Aston Martin Vanquish

2026-10-02 11:30:02

Model Overview

The Aston Martin Vanquish is the flagship super GT sports car from British ultra-luxury marque Aston Martin. On 2 September 2024, Aston Martin officially unveiled the all-new generation Vanquish as the successor to the discontinued DBS. Reviving the storied Vanquish nameplate, the new model is positioned as the brand's most potent series-production super GT to date. On 11 November 2024, the all-new Vanquish officially went on sale in China with a retail price of RM4,998,000. Strictly limited to an annual global production run of fewer than 1,000 units, deliveries commenced in the fourth quarter of 2024. In March 2025, Aston Martin expanded the line-up with the drop-top Vanquish Volante. As of June 2026, the Vanquish range is available in two bodystyles: the Coupe and the soft-top convertible Volante.

Design Language

The exterior of the all-new Vanquish seamlessly combines classic heritage cues with contemporary styling details. Up front, it features Aston Martin's signature oversized horizontal grille, which has been reprofiled with enlarged apertures to increase the surface area by 13% compared to the DBS 770 Ultimate. Flanking the grille are retro-inspired oval Matrix LED headlights, complemented by an aggressive carbon-fibre front splitter beneath the bumper. The bonnet incorporates twin F1-inspired thermal louvre vents designed to extract heat and channel air towards the front wheel arches for brake cooling. In profile, the car retains classic grand tourer proportions with a long bonnet, while the wheelbase has been lengthened by roughly 80 mm over its predecessor. The front wings feature functional side strakes with bespoke V12 badging, paired with flush door handles and broad carbon-fibre side skirts. At the rear, the dramatic fastback silhouette flows into signature C-shaped light blades housing seven individual LED light strips. The rear bumper integrates a large diffuser flanked by quad stainless-steel tailpipes, with an optional titanium exhaust system that shaves off 10.5 kg. A panoramic glass roof is also fitted as standard for the very first time on the Vanquish.

Inside, the cabin adopts the brand's contemporary T-shaped architecture, similar to the DB12 and latest Vantage. The centre console is set deliberately low to provide a commanding forward view. The cockpit is anchored by a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch integrated central touchscreen. Tactile physical buttons and rotary dials are retained along the centre console alongside an electronic gear selector toggle. The interior is lavishly appointed with exposed carbon-fibre trim panels, Alcantara, and semi-aniline leather upholstery. Seating comes courtesy of newly developed 16-way electrically adjustable sport seats. The Vanquish is built exclusively as a pure two-seater.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the bonnet, the all-new Vanquish is powered by a newly developed in-house 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. This powerhouse puts out an immense 835 PS (approximately 614 kW) and 1,000 Nm of peak torque. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. It features a front-mid engine, rear-wheel-drive layout equipped with an electronic rear limited-slip differential (e-diff). The 0-100 km/h sprint is completed in just 3.3 seconds, with 0-96 km/h dispatched in 3.2 seconds. Top speed reaches an astonishing 345 km/h, setting the highest top speed record for an Aston Martin series-production car to date. The drop-top Vanquish Volante, carrying an additional 95 kg due to structural bracing and its folding roof mechanism, achieves the century sprint in 3.4 seconds and shares an identical top speed of 344 km/h.

Chassis and Handling

Underpinning the Vanquish is a newly engineered bonded aluminium body structure. Compared to the previous flagship DBS 770 Ultimate, additional underbody stiffening components have increased lateral rigidity by 75%. The suspension setup features front double-wishbones and a rear multi-link independent configuration. Damping is managed by Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, working in tandem with a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) to orchestrate precision control across the dampers, e-diff, traction control, and electronic stability control systems. Carbon ceramic brakes (CCB) are fitted as standard. The chassis is further refined with thicker anti-roll bars and a recalibrated electric power steering (EPAS) system. The Vanquish Volante also utilises the bonded aluminium and carbon-fibre structure, with its Bilstein DTX dampers specifically recalibrated to suit the added mass and altered weight distribution, offering three drive modes: GT, SPORT, and SPORT+.

Cabin and Equipment

The Vanquish is the fourth model to adopt Aston Martin's next-generation bespoke infotainment system, following the DB12, Vantage, and DBX707. The fully integrated system was developed in-house by Aston Martin. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay, while Android and HarmonyOS users can access navigation apps via a wired connection. In-car entertainment is delivered via a standard 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system. Comfort appointments include 16-way power-adjustable front seats, Alcantara and semi-aniline leather upholstery, with optional fine open-pore wood veneers. The Vanquish Volante's multi-layer fabric soft-top can be opened or closed in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Safety and Driver Assistance

In terms of safety, the Vanquish is equipped with a comprehensive passive safety package including front, side, and curtain airbags. On the active safety front, the vehicle is fitted with a Level 2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), featuring Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. The standard carbon ceramic braking system delivers immense stopping power and high thermal resistance. Additionally, the ultra-rigid bonded aluminium architecture provides robust structural integrity and crash protection.

Market Performance and Reception

The Vanquish bloodline traces back to 2001, when the original first-generation model entered production and achieved global fame as James Bond's hero car in "Die Another Day". The second-generation model was introduced in 2012 to succeed the DBS. The arrival of the all-new third-generation Vanquish in 2024 marks the triumphant return of this iconic nameplate.

The Vanquish has garnered widespread acclaim in international markets. Top Gear shortlisted it for the "2025 Performance Car of the Year", with automotive media praising it as being "bigger, bolder, more powerful, and cleverer than anything in the badge's history". In the Chinese market, 24 units of the Vanquish were delivered in 2025, securing a solid footprint in the ultra-luxury supercar segment. Industry analysts highlight that with its 835 PS V12 engine, 345 km/h top speed, and strict exclusivity of under 1,000 units annually, the Vanquish establishes a formidable new benchmark in the super GT class. Its chief competitors include the successor to the Ferrari 812 Superfast and the Lamborghini Revuelto. Overall, through its steadfast dedication to pure V12 power, striking retro-modern design language, and flagship positioning, the all-new Aston Martin Vanquish epitomises the ultimate expression of the British ultra-luxury grand tourer.
